Clinical Research at Blair Orthopedics

The physicians and staff at Blair Orthopedics have made a commitment to quality and compassionate research.  Participants in research are vital to the advancement of medicine.

From the Declaration of Helsinki:

  • It is the duty of the physician  in medical research to protect the life, health, privacy, and dignity of the human research participant.
  • Participants must be volunteers and be informed of the research project.

Unlike an animal that does not make a conscious decision, a research participant can choose to make a significant contribution to the development of new ways to treat injury, pain, or disease.

All participation in clinical trials conducted at Blair Orthopedics is voluntary.  Once enrolled a person may withdraw at any time for any reason with no effect on their present or future medical treatment at Blair Orthopedics.

Most sponsors of clinical research will offer compensation for time and travel.  Other benefits possibly may include free diagnostics such as: ECGs, X-rays, lab work.  Since a study sponsor provides reimbursement, insurance will not be billed nor a co-pay collected for study-related visits or procedures.
