Runner's Center of Excellence
Running is one of our nation’s most popular forms of exercise. It is estimated that up to 35.9 million people run, with 10.5 million running an
average of 100 days per year.
Unfortunately, more than 50% of all recreational runners and as many as 90% of runners training for a marathon will suffer a running related injury each year.
Blair Orthopedics' Runner's Center of Excellence can help you become a better runner by:
-
Analyzing your running technique through high-speed video gait analysis & making recommendations for improvement.
-
Performing a biomechanical evaluation of your lower extremities to identify issues which would negatively affect your running.
-
Use Active Release Techniques to improve your muscular function during running.
How can Blair Orthopedics help you minimize your risk for injury?
Blair Orthopedics is leading the way to speed the recovery from existing injuries and reduce the risk of future injuries. Our team of professionals can provide expert examination of your running related concerns.
We offer two levels of evaluation.
Running Injury Evaluation $150.00
A thorough history in combination with a musculoskeletal evaluation and a biomechanical assessment will be performed to address injury and performance issues. These include:
- History & review of running habits
- Physical exam (flexibility, strength, balance, skeletal alignment, and foot structure)
- High speed video analysis of walking and running mechanics
- Treatment plan development
Preliminary findings will be reviewed with you immediately following the evaluation. Specific breakdown of your running mechanics will be discussed at a follow-up appointment. Additionally, you will receive a CD containing your running analysis along with a plan of care to address your injury and/or adverse running mechanics.
In many cases, this will be covered by your medical insurance.
Running Performance Evaluation $110.00
For non-injured athletes interested in improving performance or running mechanics, our staff uses high-speed video analysis and follow-up discussion to improve your efficiency, reduce energy costs, and prevent injury. These include:
- Brief musculoskeletal screening
- High speed video analysis of walking and running mechanics
Preliminary findings will be reviewed with you immediately following the evaluation. Professional recommendations related to footwear, running mechanics, and/or exercise, along with a CD containing your running gait analysis will be fully presented at a follow-up appointment.
